In the Spotlight: Gabi Stephenson
Project Coordinator, Radiology & Medicine
Date Posted: Tuesday, May 05, 2015Gabi joined UMass Chan Medical School six months ago as Project Coordinator for both Radiology and Medicine after graduating from Westfield State University last May with a BA in Communications. Although she works for both departments, she sits full time in Radiology next to fellowship coordinator, Kathy Delongchamp. As this is a new position for the Department, Gabi and Dr. Max Rosen are developing the job description along the way, finding no lack of exciting projects.
Gabi’s first task when she joined the department was to develop the new school departmental website. “It (the website) is an ever evolving project” she says, “one of the goals is to keep the content updated so that fellows and residents looking to come here have an accurate sense of what it is like and want to join us”. Gabi also manages the content for the Radiology Facebook and Twitter accounts as well as the RadNews newsletter. She is always looking for new “stuff” to populate these communications.
Development of the new UMass Radiology mobile app is Gabi’s latest project. She is working closely with Dr. Rosen and the IT department as the app is in the final editing stages and will be out within the next few weeks. It will provide physicians with important contact numbers, policies, FAQs, news, and welcome feedback. This will make communication simpler and more effective, especially now that UMass Radiologists have expanded to other hospitals within the community.
This coming August, Gabi will be marrying her fiancée Chris. She spends most of her free time planning for the wedding. “It is coming up extremely fast”, she says. When she is not making wedding plans, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, snowboarding and hiking.
