Idea Board- Implemented ideas/actions from June 2015

What is the problem/waste? Not aware of ideas at other campuses or departments that could be useful to us.

Why is it happening? We can’t see their idea boards

Idea: Have a section in the radiology news letter highlighting implemented ideas

Date the idea was implemented: 6/24/15

NAME(S):Angie Lorente   DATE: 2/19/15     IDEA # 31

What is the problem/waste? The linen door has to be locked. There is only one key for all of radiology and is kept in a drawer far from the linen closet.

Why is it happening? Solied linen needs to be locked according to environmental safety.

Idea: Move the key to a cabinet near the closet and hang it on the inside with Velcro.

What is the problem/waste? Not enough lead for techs to wear, velcro wont stick, no lead for OR techs.

Why is it happening? we have some old lead aprons, our lead is being taken by the OR staff, techs leave lead in different areas and don’t bring it back.

Idea: have 8 good condition lead and hang them in a locked closet. The 2^nd shift staff will check at the end of the night if all 8 pieces have been returned to the closet. If not they will leave a note for Lead tech and the early morning tech will go look for it.

Idea: To created new thyroid bx folders that have only the forms necessary for that procedure. Saves time putting together and using pt forms needed. Stream lines process/saves time

What is the problem/waste? Not enough slots for PARAS

Why is it happening? A lot of new PARA pts

Idea: Change 3p schedule to make 11am slot

Date the idea was implemented:  6/11/2015

Idea: Implement in-house day shift for Sunday. This effort contributes to the continual goal of decreasing wait times for patients needing ultrasound exams. This shift is  also implemented as a  cost reduction effort. To pay 8 hours of straight time is less dollars paid out then the previous On Call wage paid out previously

Date the idea was implemented:  The first Sunday shift was scheduled 6/7/2015

Idea: Moving the “shread it” bin from Ultrasound into the Front Office. This item is needed mostly by the front office staff. Saves time and effort transferring “hippa” documents from the front office to Ultrasound
