Pancreatic Cancer Alliance Meeting
Lacey McIntosh, DO, division chief of oncologic and molecular imaging recently attended the Pancreatic Cancer Alliance (PCA) meeting. The purpose of this specific in-person meeting was to expand the ties between researchers and clinicians to facilitate further collaborations, as well as honor the recently retired surgical oncologist, Dr. Giles Whalen, for his stewardship to the PCA.
"The event was wonderful and I got to learn about the current and ongoing research around pancreatic cancer and make connections with both clinicians and basic science researchers in the UMass Community."
The mission of the Pancreatic Cancer Alliance (PCA) is to support you in your fight against pancreatic cancer. We are a local organization, leading the way in Central Massachusetts, to support patients diagnosed with this devastating illness and families affected by pancreatic cancer.
Their website has links to resources available on the Internet, information on research being undertaken at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and UMass Memorial Cancer Center of Excellence, links to news stories about the struggle, as well as information on fundraising events and how you can support research to bring the kinds of advances needed to conquer this underfunded disease. The group meets at 6pm on the last Monday of each month at the UMass Memorial Medical Center University Campus at 55 Lake Avenue North, Worcester in the Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) building.
