New IR Angiography Suite

The Department of Radiology and the Division of Interventional Radiology is proud to announce the opening of its new IR angiography suite and Vascular Access room at University campus. Having a second hybrid vascular and body IR suite will allow us to improve access to Interventional Radiology services and further expand our Interventional Radiology capabilities.

The Philips Azurion 7 C20 will allow us to provide top of the art diagnostic and therapeutic image guided procedures with lower radiation dose. Spacious rooms and special features will greatly improve patient satisfaction and will provide a safe environment for any complex intervention with ample space for anesthesiology. 

Equipped with sophisticated advanced image-guidance systems and multi-imaging modalities, our physicians may now better visualize and treat patients with complicated diseases. This system includes technology to make this easier in both 2D and 3D with dose reduction technology. It is equipped with integrated Intravascular Ultrasound. Vessel Navigation guidance, 2D Vessel Perfusion, 3D roadmap and Vessel quantitative measurements are offered as well. Vessel Navigator allows reuse of 3D vascular anatomical information from existing CTA and MRA datasets as a 3D roadmap overlay on live X-ray images. With its sophisticated visualization, it provides an intuitive and continuous 3D roadmap to guide you through vasculature during the entire procedure. The system is connected to our PACS system allowing us to visualize previous diagnostic images inside the room.

As the clinician moves the system, the image beam automatically maintains alignment with the patient, allowing more consistent visualization and enabling them to keep their focus on the treatment. In addition, the room has ability to perform cone-beam XperCT, which will allow us to move some interventional procedures from one of the CT scanners on the first floor of University, further freeing-up capacity for diagnostic CT.

The room also is equipped with state-of-the-art video system for recording procedures and facilitating the education of our residents and fellows and performing live case demonstrations.

Different imaging guidance systems such as IVUS and Navigation, shorten the duration of the procedure and our patients also are exposed to a much lower radiation dose.”
