Shark Tank Winner Uses Prize for CPR Training
"One of the Diagnostic technologists at Hahnemann, Elizabeth Tollkuci, presented an idea through the Radiology Shark Tank project last year. Her idea was about helping caregivers in Radiology learn ways to work with patients who have dementia. Elizabeth won the first place prize of $1500.00. That money could be used for anything but Elizabeth wanted to do something for the department that would matter. She volunteered to become a Certified CPR trainer for the staff at the Hahnemann campus to help with compliance. Then she had the idea to purchase manikins rather than waiting to borrow from the school. She ordered everything and now used her last bit of funds for accessories."
"She is truly an amazing, caring employee and I would love for her to be recognized."
Marcia Amaral
Director of Radiology Operations - Memorial & Hahnemann
Elizabeth Tollkuci and Linda Anderson have both completed CPR Trainer Certification and will not only be training CPR to the Radiology staff on the Hahnemann Campus, but also offering training to the rest of the staff at Hahnemann. Classes will be listed in the near future through the UMMHC training site. Liz and Linda are excited about this new service. Linda explains that it will allow people to stay on site, save time and be convenient for themselves and other staff. Liz was looking for a way to use her award money to help the staff, purchasing the manikins and leading CPR training was a win for everyone.
As a follow-up to Elizabeth's Shark Tank poster project - Radiology staff are learning ways to work with dementia patients. Patients needing assistance are being flagged within their records and Elizabeth hopes that this system will be utilized system wide.
