Strategic Leader Development Program
Dr. Shambhavi Venkataraman recently graduated from the UMass Memorial Strategic Leader Development Program (SLDP) leadership program. Candidates are nominated by their Department Chair and chosen by a selection committee. This year 8 people were selected from across different sites system wide (Marlboro, Health Alliance, Memorial and University campuses). They started the program in October 2018, with Sally Pennell as team coach and Dr. Gustafson as their sponsor.
Dr. Venkataraman explains, "each of us were given an executive coach, with whom we worked on understanding and strengthening our skills. We were also given a group project to deliver as a team. The topic for this year was Patient and Family Centered Care. As a group, we researched the topic, did a comprehensive assessment of our current state in delivering patient and family centered care at UMass Memorial (all three hospitals), and formulated a model and roadmap for continued delivery of patient and family centered care. We presented this to the core executive team on June 3rd and to an extended audience on June 6th, which also commemorated our graduation from the program."
"This has been a fabulous experience. Starting from learning more about myself, strengthening my skills and working with a team to deliver a project on a topic that is very relevant to health care has been a wonderful experience."
