HealthAlliance Hospital in Leominster has experienced a profound amount of change over the last several months. Beginning October 1st the hospital merged with Clinton hospital to become the entity that is now known as HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital. During this merger, along with the rest of the enterprise we went live with Epic and changed to a new PACS system. In addition to those changes, HealthAlliance technical staff was also under new management as I came on as the Director in mid-September, a new radiologist group that brought with it a fresh new feel and an opportunity for growth and development. Prior to the merge the Radiology department as a whole performed roughly 90,000 exams annually across its modalities. We expect that number to continue to rise in the coming months and years. In the days since go live we have worked to improve care to the community by introducing new procedures being performed in Leominster as well as expanding services for current procedures offered. Although change is never easy, and we are still experiencing some growing pains the team of technologists have adjusted well and continue to thrive under the direction of our new Chief Amin Chaoui, MD, this results in top notch patient care. I look forward to seeing the team take the Radiology department to the next level over the coming months. ~ Patti

When asked what attracted her to UMMHC, Patti answered "I was excited about the opportunity of getting back into a hospital setting and working within a small community hospital while still intertwined with a large Academic setting. I also liked the endless possibilities that came with all of the changes that were going to be occurring. These changes included the merge with Clinton, the merge into the system, new PACS, EPIC, new radiologist group etc." Her previous employers were Atrius Health and Tufts Medical Center.
Asked about her inspiration for joining the medical field Patti shared she started working in the medical fields as a tech in 2005. Growing up her mother was a Surgical Technician and dad an ICU nurse. Every dinner conversation consisted of OR cases that occurred that day or any and everything ICU. She and her sister swore they would never go into the health care field. While in college working toward an education degree, she registered for an elective public speaking class. One of Patti's assignments was to write a persuasive speech, one of the women in her class was a Rad tech and her speech why you should become a rad tech, by the time she had finished her speech she had completely drawn Patti into the idea of becoming a rad tech. She realigned her goals and began working to obtain a degree in Radiologic Technology.
Patti and her husband Mike have three children, two daughters and a son, ages 17, 11 and 10. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family skiing, boating and traveling. She also enjoys concerts and weekend girls getaways!
