Emergency Radiology
Welcome to the Division of Emergency Radiology. Emergency Radiology is a sub-specialty of radiology that specializes in the diagnosis of acutely ill and traumatized patients in the Emergency Department (ED) setting. By utilizing multiple imaging modalities, including CT, MRI, Ultrasound and Radiography, we play a vital role in the timely diagnosis and management of ED patients from head to toe.
Our Emergency Radiology division provides comprehensive imaging services to five hospitals within the UMass Memorial system, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. These include the only Level One Trauma Center in central Massachusetts and emergency departments treating over 250,000 patients per year. An attending physician is on site, available for interpretative and consultative services at all times. Our reading room is physically located within the emergency department, to allow for the most accessible, timely, and interactive service possible.
Our division is composed of ten board-certified , talented and dedicated attending radiologists, all of whom are UMass Chan Medical School (UMass Chan) faculty and sub-specialize in emergency radiology. Attending staff members are on site 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide subspecialty consultative and interpretive services.
