Diversity and Inclusion
The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine is committed to promoting and advancing diversity among its trainees and faculty, with the goal of providing an inclusive and equitable environment for all in which to work, learn, and receive care. The city of Worcester and the surrounding region is a racially and socioeconomically diverse community, and the pediatric emergency department is dedicated to providing culturally competent and compassionate patient care to our community. As pediatric emergency providers, we see first-hand the physical and psychological effects that poverty, racism, and discrimination have on our most vulnerable patients. Understanding these difficulties faced by our patients are key to providing holistic care and reducing health disparities. To further this mission, the pediatric emergency medicine fellowship program is dedicated to recruiting applicants that have unique backgrounds, interests, lifestyles, and life experiences. We believe that by recruiting trainees with these unique perspectives that reflect those of our patient population, we will be better able to provide the care our community needs. We are committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment, where we can all learn from one another by sharing and celebrating our diverse background, talents, and histories.
