School of Medicine student Kassandra Jean-Marie credits the UMass Baccalaureate MD Pathway Program for helping her pursue a medical degree and increase diversity in the medical field, according to an NBC10-Boston feature on the program.
“If you don't have doctors that reflect our population, it can be kind of hard for our patients to trust us,” Jean-Marie told NBC10-Boston reporter Jeff Saperstone.
Paul Charles, project coordinator for the BaccMD program, said, “The goal of the program is to really lower the health disparities that exist in our community by creating a diverse pool of students.”
