The independently operated Office of the Ombudsman (Office), run by Lauren “Laurie” M. Andersen, MM, RN, CEN, CCRN, Ombudsman and Executive Director of the Office, reporting to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS), serves as the independent health and wellness adviser to the Massachusetts Department of Correction (DOC).

or work in MA Department of Correction facilities.
The mission of the Office of the Ombudsman (Office), as an independent health and wellness advisor to the Massachusetts Department of Correction (DOC), is to promote a healthy, safe, and supportive environment for all individuals who live and work within DOC facilities. Reporting directly to the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, the Office develops comprehensive health and wellness initiatives, training, and education programs and, in collaboration with the DOC, implements efforts that strengthen facility culture and climate. The Office believes that supporting the wellness of DOC staff contributes to better outcomes for incarcerated individuals.
