Vivian Budnik, PhD, the Worcester Foundation for Biomedical Research Chair and chair and professor of neurobiology, has been named a member-at-large for the neuroscience section of the American Association for the Advancement of Science for four annual terms beginning in February.

The AAAS is an international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science, engineering and innovation throughout the world for the benefit of all people.

As a member-at-large, Dr. Budnik will actively assess the performance of the neuroscience section as a whole as well as its role in the association, with a view toward finding ways to involve the section’s members in useful, professional interaction.

Budnik, who joined UMMS in 2003, studies the molecular and genetic mechanisms that allow synaptic connections in the nervous system to change, mechanisms that are at the core of processes such as learning and memory.
