Nominations sought for women’s faculty awards
Do you know a female faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in education, community service, achievement or patient care? If so, the Women’s Faculty Committee of UMass Medical School and UMass Memorial Health Care would like to hear from you.
The Women’s Faculty Committee is seeking nominations of women faculty for the following awards, which will be presented at the 11th Annual Women’s Faculty Awards Luncheon on Monday, May 16:
- the Outstanding Community Service Award, which acknowledges a woman faculty member who best exemplifies outstanding community service to the UMass Medical/UMass Memorial and/or Worcester community;
- the Sarah Stone Excellence in Education Award, which acknowledges a woman faculty member who has made exceptional contributions in education and/or curriculum development;
- the Women in Science and Health Achievements Award, which acknowledges a woman faculty member who has made exceptional contributions to the basic or clinical sciences in medicine; and
- the Excellence in Clinical Service Award, which acknowledges a woman faculty member who has made exceptional contributions to patient care in the UMass Medical School/UMass Memorial and/or Worcester community.
An award acknowledging an outstanding mentor to women faculty, for which male and female faculty members are eligible, will also be presented.
Nominees must be part-time or full-time UMMS faculty members for a minimum of three years. Previous award recipients are not eligible for awards they have received; however, they are eligible for awards in other categories.
To nominate someone, please send the person’s name, her department or division, the award for which she is being nominated and a written personal statement of approximately 500 words explaining why she meets the criteria of that particular award. Also include your name, department or division and phone extension or e-mail address. Nominations should be submitted no later than Feb. 28 to the Office of Faculty Affairs, University Campus, S2-337, or by e-mail FacultyAffairs@umassmed.edu.
