We had a great day today raising awareness for alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency!
With the support of the Alpha-1 Foundation and the help of some wonderful Alpha volunteers, we hosted a day-long event at the UMass Chan Medical School, where we had two stands with a lot of information on Alpha-1: what the symptoms are, how to get tested, etc.
The Alpha-1 researchers from UMass from the labs of Dr Mueller, Flotte and Xue with our Alpha volunteers. Mueller, Flotte and Xue recently received together with 2 other UMass researchers an $11.5 million grant from the NIH for Alpha-1 research. You can read more about it here.
Raising Alpha-1 awareness!
Dr Mueller giving an update on his lab's research to some of our Alphas, he mentioned our new Alpha-1 null mice that will for the first time allow us to study Alpha-1 lung disease! You can read more about it here.
Our stand in the hospital lobby: a visitor with an Alpha-1 researcher from UMass.
Our stand in the lobby of the Albert Sherman Center: an Alpha-1 researcher from UMass with two Alpha-1 volunteers.
More visitors at our Sherman stand, getting educated on Alpha-1 by our Alpha volunteers.
A visitor who followed the day's dress code to perfection!
We'd like to thank everybody who stopped by, the wonderful Alphas who help us raise awareness every year, and the Alpha-1 Foundation for its support.
