Varun Ayyaswami to Study Digital Health Interventions with Mel Cutler Population Health Pilot Research Award
Varun Ayyaswami, MD, assistant professor of medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and faculty member in the Division of Health Systems Science, is among the winners of the Mel Cutler Population Health Pilot Research Award. Dr. Ayyaswami, in collaboration with Jamie Faro, PhD, of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences, will explore the use of digital health interventions that integrate fitness tracker technology health coaching into clinical care for obese patients on weight-loss medications. The study aims to highlight the need for a combined approach with lifestyle therapy to achieve lasting health benefits. Additionally, it will inform the design of a larger trial to pave the way for effective strategies to enhance physical activity and health outcomes in clinical practice.
