It is with pride and enthusiasm that I welcome you to the Department of Medicine at the UMass Chan Medical School and UMass Memorial Health.
The Department of Medicine’s vision is to be the national leader in the delivery of innovative and high-quality patient care, education programs, and transformative basic and clinical research. 
Our Department has 16 Divisions and includes over 370 active faculty members. We care deeply about each other and our community, and are dogged in our advocacy for our patients. Our world-class faculty are developing innovative approaches for the prevention and treatment of disease through internationally recognized and world-class research programs, including the Programs in Innate Immunity and Digital Medicine. With 80 principal investigators, the Department of Medicine secured over $70 million in funding in FY24. We contribute to a vibrant academic community at UMass Chan, where we rank in the top 30 of NIH-funded academic institutions.
Our clinical partner, UMass Memorial Health, is the largest healthcare system in Central and Western Massachusetts, featuring three acute care hospitals and a wide array of clinical services ranging from the entire continuum of care.
