Apurv Soni Discusses Building a Future of Connected Health in Recent Publication

As digital health services and interventions work to create a more efficient, patient-centered health care system, physicians face ongoing challenges such as clinician shortages, rising healthcare costs, and other barriers, thus creating a need for connected health solutions.

In a recent article published in Healthcare Innovation, Apurv Soni, MD, PhD, assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Health Systems Science, Clinical Informatics Section, and co-director of the Program in Digital Medicine, introduces the Connected Health Collaborative Community (CHcc). This initiative, led by the Digital Medicine Society and co-hosted by the Consumer Technology Association, in partnership with the Program in Digital Medicine at UMass Chan, aims to unite patients, caregivers, health systems, technology providers, and more, to address challenges and opportunities in reaching the full potential of connected health care.

“What does ‘connected health’ truly entail? Connected health envisions a future where healthcare transcends the walls of hospitals and clinics, supporting all individuals throughout their health journey– from health maintenance to acute interventions. This means reliably and seamlessly leveraging virtual care, remote patient monitoring, and other digital interventions to access high-quality care wherever patients are—at home, at work, or on the go,” said Dr. Soni.
