November Fellow Spotlight: Archanaa Murugan, MD
In this month’s Fellow Spotlight, we feature Archanaa Murugan, MD, a Rheumatology fellow at UMass Chan. We recently caught up with Dr. Murugan to learn more about her clinical and research interests, why she chose UMass for her fellowship, and why Florida is her favorite place to travel!

What are your clinical and research interests?
Women’s health, connective tissue disease, and Myositis.
Why did you choose UMass Chan for your fellowship?
Everyone in the program is so kind and supportive. During my interview, the fellows had nothing but positive things to say about the program. The program also has a good mix of clinical teaching and research opportunities.
Where is your favorite place to travel for vacation and why?
Destin, Florida. The beaches are stunning.
What was your favorite book as a child?
The Harry Potter series. I love the details and how everything comes together. There are no unanswered questions. It felt almost real when I was a kid.
Favorite holiday?
Christmas! I love the holiday season—everyone is always in a good mood, and I get to see my family.
Favorite guilty pleasure snack?
Popcorn- because there are so many different flavor options.
