Dominic Nompleggi, MD

Dr. Dominic J. Nompleggi, the Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology at the UMass Chan Medical School passed away on August 27, 2021.

Dom joined the UMass Memorial Medical School and Hospital in 1991 where he was on staff for over 30 years. He served as the Clinical Chief of Gastroenterology until 2004 and then became the Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology for the remainder of his tenure. Professionally, he served on multiple system leadership committees including the UMass Memorial Medical Group Board of Trustees and the Compliance Committee. He was a beloved member of the staff; served as a mentor, educator, clinician, and friend to all. He will be remembered for his calm and inclusive demeanor, his thoughtful leadership, and his ability to make everyone feel special. He loved being a physician and cherished all the moments of his tenure.

A special endowment has been created for the Dr. Dominic Nompleggi Fund and gifts in memory of Dom can be made payable to the UMass Chan Medical School Foundation and sent to the Office of Advancement, 333 South Street, Shrewsbury, MA, 01545.
