Abdominal Radiology

Welcome to the UMass Chan Medical School Radiology Department and Division of Abdominal Imaging website.

Abdominal Imaging is a sub-specialty of Radiology that provides diagnostic imaging and minimally-invasive image-guided procedures to contribute in the diagnosis and treatment of abdominal and pelvic disorders.

Our Abdominal Imaging Division provides state of the art radiology services to the population of central Massachusetts and UMass Memorial Healthcare patients including Ultrasound, Computed tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), General Radiography (X-Ray) and fluoroscopic examinations.

All imaging examinations are interpreted on a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), which allows rapid review of images by all the health care providers across the UMass Memorial Healthcare system, and allows comparison with any previous examinations available in PACS.

Our fellowship-trained radiologists are committed to high quality interpretation and patients care and are actively involved in multidisciplinary conferences.

As with the Department as a whole, the Abdominal Imaging Division provides a broad range of educational opportunities to the University of Massachusetts medical students, residents, and fellows.

Our division is also committed to ongoing quality assurance, participating in departmental projects; this process allows constant evaluation of the imaging techniques and outcomes for our patients, and comparison with best practice guidelines and national databases.

Fellowship Training

The Abdominal Imaging Division offers a 1-year ACGME-accredited Fellowship program.
