In this month’s Resident Spotlight, we highlight Jeremy Soonhyouk Kwon, MD, a third-year Internal Medicine resident. Here, Dr. Kwon describes his clinical interests, what makes UMass Chan a great place for residency, and his favorite thing to do in the Worcester area.
Hometown?
Fort Lee, NJ
What are your clinical interests?
Hospital medicine and palliative medicine. I just signed for a hospitalist position back home in NJ at Hackensack University Medical Center!
Are you involved in any other groups or activities at UMass Chan that you’d like to highlight?
I wouldn’t have made it through residency without the board game crew!
What makes UMass Chan a great place for your residency?
Dr. Kopec and my co-residents make what should be a tough job into a fun job, and it’s close to home.
Favorite hobbies?
I’m a gamer. I love video and board games! I also like to do covers of pop and punk songs on guitar. I’m hoping to get back to doing open-water swims too now that I’m nearing the end of residency!
Favorite thing to do in Worcester/Worcester area?
Run to the Worcester-Shrewsbury bridge early in the morning and work out there. I love seeing the lake shine first thing in the morning.
