Quality Improvement

The Division is highly engaged in Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, and Process Improvement programs. Drs. Ish Gupta and Emmanuel Maduakor serve as Quality officers for the UMASS Memorial Medical Center, and Dr. Rick Forster is a LEAN Black Belt recipient and serves as Chair for the Acute Care Operations Committee and the Patient Flow Leadership Team. Our faculty are actively invovled in efforts to address important issues such as: transitions of care, hospital readmission, medication safety and reconciliation, alarm fatigue, and fall prevention.
