As of August 2026 Fellows receive a stipend of $61,008, plus UMass Chan health and dental insurance benefits and professional liability insurance. In addition, the felllow is allotted $2,500 educational stipend to cover professional conference expenses, travel expenses to off-campus practicum sites, and expenses such as books and supplies.

Fellows will have access to the UMass Chan Medical School Library, including on-line access (including on-line journals and books) and Lexis-Nexis which provides comprehensive access to State and Federal cases and statutes.

The Law and Psychiatry Program is itself a significant resource to fellows because of its many activities associated with public sector mental health services in Massachusetts. The program, under a contract with the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, is responsible for the continuing education and certification of all forensic mental health professionals who work in Massachusetts' inpatient and court clinic services.
