The University of Amherst, School of Public Health and Health Sciences, has a Master of Public Health Program affiliated with the UMass/Chan Medical School campus in Worcester. This degree is granted through and accredited by the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. The courses are taught online in conjunction with the UMass/Amherst, University Without Walls, Public Health Practice Program.

The curriculum for the MPH Program is designed to enable health care professionals to earn this advanced degree while engaged in professional activities since all classes are taught online.

The courses cover a wide variety of subjects in the fields of epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy and administration, research methods, managed care, program planning, environmental health and data management.

The requirements for the degree include a total of 42 credits. This includes the 3 credit practicum and the 3 credit capstone experience.  The six public health core courses, research methods, and 5 electives are taught online.  The practicum, independent study and capstone experiences are developed in consultation with the Director of the Worcester Campus MPH Program. Worcester Campus MPH students have a faculty advisor who is available to provide assistance with all elements of curricular planning and completion.

A typical student can complete the MPH program in 2-4 years.

Students who do not wish to pursue the degree may take courses in the program on a non-degree basis.
