Divisional faculty members provide the majority of cardiovascular diseases teaching in the UMass Chan Medical School Foundation of Medicine course, serve as preceptors for physical diagnosis courses, and as mentors for individual students. At a post-graduate level, faculty members serve as clinical and research mentors for resident physicians and fellows in all aspects of cardiovascular medicine.
Research in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine spans basic investigation through clinical trials and population studies. Our faculty members are committed to advancing knowledge and have internationally recognized programs in vascular biology, thrombosis, gene therapy, congenital cardiac and vascular diseases, and the role of microRNA in cardiovascular disease.
Our patient care enterprise consists of physicians and staff dedicated to comprehensively addressing our patients’ needs in acute cardiovascular medical care, disease prevention, and education. Patient care is provided at the University, Memorial, and Marlboro Hospitals of UMass Memorial Health. Our Division has the most extensive service line of the Heart and Vascular Center (Cardiovascular Medicine, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Cardiac Anesthesiology). The Heart and Vascular Center is geared to integrate all cardiovascular services in a unified center of excellence, providing a truly collaborative environment that promotes teamwork amongst all specialists to deliver advanced care for patients with cardiac and vascular conditions.
