Center Director, Dr. Maryann Davis to present to The Federal Partners in Transition (FPT)
Date Posted: Tuesday, November 16, 2021As part of our ongoing efforts to improve outcomes for transition-aged youth through researched-based efforts, Dr. Maryann Davis, UMass Chan Dept. of Psychiatry Professor and Center Director for iSPARC and Transitions to Adulthood Center for Research will be presenting to The Federal Partners in Transition (FPT) on Thursday 11/16.
Her talk entitled “Connecting Youth Receiving Mental Health Services to State Vocational Rehabilitation Services”, focuses on evidence that youth with mental health disabilities are not connecting with state vocational rehabilitation services at ages that would help them access those services more successfully, and presents evidence that the pathway from child mental health systems to vocational rehabilitation services could be strengthened to remedy the situation.
Formed in 2005 to support all youth, including youth with disabilities, in successfully transitioning from school to adulthood, The Federal Partners in Transition (FPT), is a workgroup with representatives of several federal agencies, including the Departments of Education, Health and Human Services, National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research, Labor, and the Social Security Administration.
