BiographyHometown: South Hadley, MA Undergrad institution: Bates College Medical School: University of Miami Other degrees/info: MPH, former Peace Corps Volunteer Future plans: Undecided, considering colorectal, pediatric surgery, and general surgery Why UMass: I had an awesome experience during the UMass interview and meet-and-greets. Through conversations with current residents I got the impression that UMass is an institution where you operate a lot, and graduate with the ability either to seek competitive fellowship training, or go straight into general surgical practice. UMass just checked all the boxes. It's an academic institution that doesn't require research and expects its residents to excel across the full spectrum of practices that someone who completed a general surgery residency might want to pursue. Favorite thing in Worcester: I love riding my bike through the rural towns surrounding Worcester. I also enjoy the many restaurants and breweries that Worcester has to offer. I'm also looking forward to seeing a WooSox game next season. |
