Division of Oral Surgery and Dentistry (consultations all campuses)
Division Chief: Steven Ramos, DMD, MPH
The Division is made up of oral and maxillofacial surgeons, pediatric dental specialists, and general dentists who have completed hospital based Advanced Graduate training or General Practice Residencies.
The services provided include:
- Emergency Room coverage
- In-patient consultations on all campuses
- Day Surgery and In-patient OR services for complex oral surgery
- Dental rehabilitation services for children and handicapped patients who cannot be treated in an office setting
- Pre-operative dental evaluations and treatment are performed on cardiac valve and liver transplant candidates as well as Stem Cell transplant candidates.
Both in-patient campuses have digital panographic radiology services
The University campus has a dental treatment room in the West Pod of the Emergency Department with digital intra oral radiographic capability.
The campus facilities are frequently used for continuing education in conjunction with the Worcester District Dental Society.
Members of the Division provide professional supervision for the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile preventive dental services, which include sealants, dental cleaning, fluoride treatments and screenings with referrals as needed. The program was launched in the summer of 2000 as the first of its kind in the nation.
