Elective Description: The primary goal for this rotation is to become comfortable with the flexible application of the neurologic and mental status examination in the evaluation of patients with behavioral and psychiatric disorders related to brain damage. Students will be responsible for performing neuropsychiatric consultations mostly outpatient and occasionally inpatient. There is a one-time experience at a residential school for developmentally disabled students. Students will gain experience in utilizing and interpreting neuropsychological testing, magnetic resonance imaging, brain PET/ SPECT imaging, and EEG (electroencephalography). The student will also be responsible for the presentation of a literature review on a topic of neuropsychiatric interest once at our weekly Neuropsychiatry Journal Club.
