Elective Description: It is proposed that the student will actively participate in the Emergency Department as a provider of emergency care under the direct supervision of the attending emergency physician on duty as well as under the Director's overall supervision and instruction. He/she will participate in all formally scheduled and informal teaching sessions in the Unit, and will be assigned patients for evaluation and treatment on a regular basis. The average daily census of the emergency department is approximately 115 patients. Adult and pediatric patients presenting with medical, surgical, and all other complaints will be seen by the student. | |
