Dr. Gao’s lab uses a combination of molecular, cellular, genetic and behavioral approaches to dissect the pathogenic mechanisms involving Frontotemporal Dementia disease genes. They use multiple experimental systems, including Drosophila (fly), mouse models and patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). Their ultimate goal is to identify common underlying pathogenic pathways as potential targets for therapeutic interventions in Frontotemporal Dementia.
