Director's Welcome
Welcome to the UMass Chan Medical School Psychiatry Residency, located in central Massachusetts. We are proud to offer a wide range of clinical and educational experiences to train well-rounded residents with a solid foundation in neuroscience, psychotherapy, public sector psychiatry, and pharmacology. Our large faculty includes nationally recognized experts in transitional age youth/college age youth, addiction psychiatry, medically complex inpatients, treatment-resistant depression and bipolar disorder, neurodevelopmental disorders, neuropsychiatry, women’s mental health, new onset psychosis, neuromodulation, and many other areas. We are honored to serve a patient population from diverse socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Our residents and faculty are committed to providing culturally affirming, trauma-informed, patient-centered care.
As a graduate of this program, I have a deep appreciation for the supportive, nurturing environment, focused on the personal and professional development of each trainee. Now as the program director, I strive to foster that environment and to individualize the training experience as much as possible, by tailoring electives and opportunities based on a resident’s interest.
Our program values intellectual curiosity, teamwork, collaboration, compassion, and service. We look to recruit a diverse group of residents who will be invested in their education, the patients they serve, and that will utilize the resources that UMass has to offer for their professional and personal growth.
