Kimberly Yonkers, MD, To Take Over Editorship Of The Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease

Kimberly Yonkers, M.D., Katz Family Chair of the Department of Psychiatry, will become the new editor of the Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease in January.
“The Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease is a storied journal, known for its publication of top-notch science. I look forward to leading it into the next decade,” said Dr. Yonkers.
The journal, established in 1874, describes itself as “the world's oldest independent scientific monthly in the field of human behavior.” Articles cover the latest research in epidemiolgy, etiology, psychopathology, diagnosis, therapy, and diseases treated in clinical practice.

Dr. Yonkers has been the Katz Family Chair of the Department of Psychiatry since 2021. Previously, she was a professor in the Departments of Psychiatry, Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the School of Public Health, Yale University. She was also Chief of the Yale New Haven Health Division of Psychological Medicine. She was also the editor of Psychiatric Research & Clinical Practice (PRCP), a journal of the American Psychiatric Association.
