Amy Harrington, MD, C.P.E, F.A.P.A

Dr. Harrington is Board-Certified in both General and Addiction Psychiatry, and she is the Director for the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship. She received her medical degree at Drexel University in Philadelphia. She then completed a residency in psychiatry at Georgetown University, where she also served as chief resident. She came to Massachusetts to complete a fellowship at Boston University, and joined the faculty at UMass in 2010. She has worked in a variety of treatment settings that span the socioeconomic spectrum. She is the Medical Director of the Acute Addiction Continuum at Community Healthlink, a community mental health center in Worcester, MA where there is a significant homeless and court-involved population. She was previously Associate Director for Physician Health Services, a program that works with doctors with mental health or substance use issues. She is the Chairperson for the Physician Health Committee at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, where she is active on the faculty of the Medical School as a clinician, educator and researcher. Her research interests include management of Disruptive Physician Behavior, as well as the treatment of co-occurring substance use and serious mental illness.
