Education Subdivision
Division of Addiction Psychiatry
Education Subdivision
Welcome to the Education Subdivision of the Division of Addiction Psychiatry at the UMass Chan Medical School. This Subdivision coordinates and provides an education experience in the evaluation and treatment of substance use disorders to medical students, psychiatry residents, addiction psychiatry fellows, and psychology interns. The Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship is ACGME accredited and with the faculty and rotation sites provides the infrastructure for teaching in the assessment, treatment, and team coordination of comprehensive care for individuals with substance use disorders. The learners at different levels will gain knowledge and experience in the neurobiology of addiction and expertise in treatment principles for substance dependence. Also, they will learn how to evaluate and treat complex patients with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Finally, our program has the possibility to teach evidence-based management of substance abuse in adolescents and young adults.
