Addiction Educational Services
Monika Kolodziej, PhD and Gerardo Gonzalez, MD started this Educational Program and organized it within the Division of Addiction Psychiatry to support the activities of Central Massachusetts Addiction Consortium (CMAC) and of the Division with the community. The first (1-day) conference in 2010 was entitled “Substance Use Disorder among Youth: Advances in Prevention and Treatment” with the participation of James Prochaska, PhD as the Keynote Speaker. The next conference in September 2011 (entitled “ Family and Addiction Recovery”) and Spring 2012 (entitled “Opiate Addiction Treatment and Recovery”). The conferences aim to engage UMass faculty members and CMAC partners to address important areas of concern in Central Massachusetts in interactive, educational formats. The intended participants for these events are substance abuse and mental health providers, families, and the community in general. The Division will also program annual events to update mental health providers and physicians on topic related to addiction.
