Dr. Liam Butler is a Biologist and was awarded a PhD from Newcastle University, UK. As an Assistant Professor at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, NC, his’s research specializes in using multiple data modalities to develop AI models capable of predicting risk of multiple cardiovascular-related incidences. His recent work uses electrocardiogram signal data, in combination with patient profiles, to develop models that can highlight time points of highest risk of fatal arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. Dr. Butler strives to increase explainability and aims to test the practicality and feasibility of such AI models, integrated within smart wearable devices, as well as increase the prospects of e-health by working closely with clinicians.
