The Immunohistochemistry Laboratory is dedicated to providing high quality stained slides to Pathologists in an efficient and timely manner. We offer a comprehensive repertoire of approximately 165 antibodies to aid in the diagnosis and prognosis of tumors. The repertoire includes several viral, epithelial, lymphoid, endocrine, organ specific, proliferation markers, and antibodies against nuclear proteins and cell surface adhesion molecules, and is continuously being expanded. Staining is performed twice daily, with stained slides available at 8:00 am and 3:00 pm Monday through Friday. Immunohistochemistry for HER2/neu is done using the FDA approved Dako kit and and is interpreted using a computer assisted image analysis program for better inter- and intra-observer reproducibility.
The immunohistochemistry lab can be contracted to perform the immunostains with or without their interpretation by a Pathologist. The laboratory is staffed by three full time technologists under supervision of Kathleen Smith and a Medical Director, Di Lu MD. The Medical Director is available for consultation to suggest immunohistochemistry panels for various differentiatial diagnostic scenarios at 508-793-6100.
