Message from the Program Director
On behalf of the UMass Chan Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery Residency Program, I extend a warm welcome to you. Our program is dedicated to providing a comprehensive educational experience that will equip our residents with the skills and knowledge necessary to become exceptional otolaryngologists. Throughout the training program, residents have the opportunity to work in a wide range of clinical experiences and will have exposure to the breadth of the specialty. The majority of their training is at UMass Memorial Medical Center, but they also rotate at Boston Children’s Hospital for 3 months each in their second and third years. In addition, there is a 3 month research block in each of the third and fourth years of residency to pursue and complete research and quality improvement initiatives.
We are committed to fostering an environment that promotes learning, professionalism, and personal growth. Our team is here to provide mentorship, support, and help our residents achieve their career goals. All residents are encouraged to make the most of this program by actively engaging in clinical rotations, research opportunities, educational conferences, and patient care. We value our residents’ dedication and commitment to the field of Otolaryngology, and we are confident that they will emerge from this program as highly-skilled and compassionate physicians with the ability to excel in independent practice.
We take great pride in the camaraderie and supportive culture of our department as we prioritize patient care and education. We seek self-driven and motivated candidates that emulate these standards and who will play an active role in the molding of our new residency program through leadership, honor, diligence, respect, and discipline.
Best regards,
