The Karen W Green Clinic for Pregnancy and Recovery
Residents will rotate in the Karen W Green Clinic for Pregnancy and Recovery as part of their Ambulatory rotation. This multi-disciplinary clinic serves pregnant or recently delivered women who also have a variety of Substance Use Disorders (SUDs). Embedded in Community Women’s Care, “The Green Clinic” provides both comprehensive prenatal care and addiction treatment. This model of care integrates Obstetrics, Addiction Medicine, Psychiatry, Social Work, and Recovery Coaching for women seeking recovery or actively using substances. Residents work directly with the patients under the supervision of faculty who are trained in both Ob/Gyn and Addiction Medicine. Residents learn about the diagnosis and treatment of SUDs, including Opioid Use Disorder, Cocaine Use Disorder, Benzodiazepine Use Disorder, and Tobacco Use Disorder among others. Residents will have opportunity to train to prescribe buprenorphine over the course of their residency and work with Generalist Ob/Gyns who prescribe this life-saving medication. In addition to the treatment of these disorders, management of withdrawal and overdose are covered, as well as prevention of SUDs and harm reduction models
