Jianjun Zhong
Date Posted: Monday, April 08, 2024Jianjun Zhong, MD, PhD, postdoctoral associate in the neurology department has carried out his training in the Bosco lab and has collaborated closely with the Henninger lab. As a dual doctor, Jianjun completed his medical schooling in 2012, and earned his PhD in 2017 from Chongqing Medical University in China. Jianjun focused on neurosurgery for his residency training between 2017 – 2019.
With a desire to become a neuroscientist, he joined UMass Chan in late 2019.
Jianjun has focused his research on traumatic brain injury and neurodegenerative diseases. His research included traumatic brain injury surgeries, animal behavior studies, tissue processing and histological studies. Jianjun shares, “Thanks to the help from my PI, Dr. Bosco, and my lab mates, I have learned how to run my research independently.”
When Jianjun is not working in the lab, he enjoys playing basketball.

Jianjun has been incredibly productive, having co-authored two publications already with three more in preparation.
