2023 PACE Award

Congratulations to the Department of Neurology and the Department of Palliative Care, as they are recognized for receiving the sixth annual PACE Award, granted by UMass Memorial Health.  
 
Kara Smith, MD, associate professor in the Department of Neurology at UMass Chan Medical School and physician at UMass Memorial Health is pictured receiving the PACE grant check, alongside the other finalists from the Palliative Care department, Jennifer Reidy, Marycarla Mcdonald, Vandana Nagpal. Chair of Neurology, AM Barrett, MD, is also pictured in the photo.  Wissam Deeb, MD, Director of the Movement Disorders Fellowship Program, and neurology finalist was not pictured in the photo.  

Their project, Music Therapy for Hospitalized Patients with Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia: A Randomized Controlled Pilot to Prevent Delirium, received a $100,000 grant during the Family Fun Day at Polar Park, home of the Worcester Woosox.
