Meet Nemo

NEMO, a Latin word meaning "no one", was chosen as the name for our first Massively Parallel Deep Sequencer.
    Captain NEMO, Master of the "Deep", was a brilliant scientist from the novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne, who used his skills to explore and master the unknown depths.
    Sequencing instruments added later to our core follow that inspiration with names related to deep sea exploration, sea monsters, and other mythological creatures.

    Nemo transitioned from a Solexa 1G to a GA IIX Genome Analyzer before being retired in favor of newer, higher-throughput instruments (going from 30 million paired-end reads produced per run up to a maximum of 12 billion on our NovaSeq 6000).
