Carolina Ionete, MD, PhD is a professor of neurology and director of the Neuroimmunology and Multiple Sclerosis Center. She is also a graduate of the UMass Chan Medical School Neuroimmunology Fellowship program. Carolina Ionete received her MD and PhD from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania. She worked as an Assistant-Professor in Neurology at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania between 1993-2002. Her research interest includes biomarkers of MS activity and treatment response, clinical trials and neuro HIV research.

Roberto Bomprezzi, MD, PhD is an associate professor of neurology, fellowship trained in neuroimmunology, involved in the treatment of inflammatory disorders of the central nervous system, such as multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica, neurosarcoidosis.

Idanis Berrios-Morales, MD, PhD, is an assistant professor of neurology, and the director of the Neuroimmunology Fellowship program. She is the co-leader of the education track committee for the Neurology Residency program.

Christopher Hemond, MD, is an assistant professor of neurology, and a board-certified neurologist with clinical subspecialty training in neuroimmunology and multiple sclerosis. His research focuses on the exploration of immunological and metabolic factors which determine pathological rates of brain atrophy and neurodegeneration in multiple sclerosis.

Raffaella Umeton, MD, is an assistant professor and director of the Neuroimmunology Headache Clinic. She has an interest in autoimmune disorders of the nervous system. She specializes in evaluation and management of patients with MS and other neuroinflammatory disorders. She is actively involved in conducting research exploring the association between gut microbiome and MS and in studying the epidemiology of primary headache disorders in MS patients.

Carolyn Griffin, RN, BSN, CCRP is the Research Project Director. She has been involved in research for several years and has received certification from the Society of Clinical Research Professionals . She is the main contact for patients who are involved in our research studies.
