Research
My research interests lie in developing and improving genome editing technologies for therapeutic applications. I have developed a variety of enhanced genome editing tools including an improved CRISPR-Cas12a system that facilitates efficient targeted mutagenesis in mammalian cells and zebrafish (Liu et al. Nucleic Acids Res 2019), and an NLS-optimized SpCas9-based prime editor that improves genome editing efficiency in both fluorescent reporter cells and at endogenous loci in cultured cell lines (Liu et al. Nat Commun 2021). Recently, I demonstrated that increasing intracellular dNTP levels improves prime editing efficiency (Liu et al. Nat Biotechnol 2024).
