In 2014, we developed MCPAP for Moms, the first Perinatal Psychiatry Access Program. See the MCPAP for Moms leadership team.
MCPAP for Moms provides consult services to perinatal care clinicians and professionals. These professionals provide care to pregnant, postpartum, and lactating persons and include obstetric care clinicians, psychiatrists, pediatricians, therapists, and others.
To access its services, perinatal care clinicians and professionals call MCPAP for Moms. MCPAP for Moms then helps them determine how to support their patients’ mental health. Often this includes consultation with a MCPAP for Moms consulting perinatal psychiatrist.
During its first three years, MCPAP for Moms provided more than 3,000 clinical encounters and served more than 3,000 perinatal individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. In its first eight years, MCPAP for Moms:

Consultation
Perinatal care professionals receive real-time perinatal psychiatric consultation from its team of perinatal psychiatrists.
Resource and referral
MCPAP for Moms helps perinatal care professionals arrange outpatient mental health and/or substance use support, including linkages with community-based individual and group therapy, support groups, and other resources that support perinatal health and wellness.
Education
MCPAP for Moms provides perinatal mental health training and toolkits.
We deliver expert consultation that helps you develop, implement, and evaluate a Perinatal Psychiatry Access Program in your community.
We also provide consultation around integrating care for mental health and substance use disorders into obstetric and other perinatal and pediatric care settings.
