Department of Medicine Funding for Medical Resident Presentations
The Department of Medicine offers limited financial support for medical residents presenting scholarly work at national meetings coauthored by DOM faculty. To be eligible for funding:
- The resident must be first author and/or presenter with a DOM faculty as senior author.
- The meeting must be national or international (regional or local meetings are not eligible)
- The resident must have used all their GME and residency allotted conference funds.
- The request must be preapproved by the Department (see below)
- Documentation of costs must be submitted within 120 days.
The Department will reimburse the resident for the costs including:
- Meeting registration
- Reasonable transportation costs (standard airfare, cab, Uber/Lyft, airport parking)
- Meal allowance per diem in accordance with UMass Chan Medical School policy
Funding is capped at a total of $1000.00 per resident per academic year (July-June). The Department will not fund rental cars or first class/business class airfare. Each resident may only receive support for 1 presentation per academic year. Residents may apply on a “first come first serve” basis, but support is not guaranteed as funds are limited.
Requests should be submitted by the supervising faculty member to Dr. Pang-Yen Fan, Vice Chair for Education.
Reimbursable expenses must be submitted with receipts to Ms. Sara Jacques.
