UMass Chan Medical School offers well balanced residency programs in all specialties and a supportive interdisciplinary and interprofessional learning environment. Here, you will complete the requirements for specialty board certification, develop professionally for careers in a changing health care delivery environment and provide progressively responsible clinical care under expert faculty supervision. Abundant basic science and clinical research as well as training in medical education provide individualized interest-driven opportunities for career development.

Anesthesiology →
The mission of the Anesthesiology Residency Program is to train and graduate excellent clinicians with a strong skill set in all key areas of perioperative medicine. We provide an educational framework for the successful planning and execution of scholarly work in the areas of education, quality and patient safety, and clinical research to ensure trainees have the skills to become effective educators in any environment in which they practice. Our learning environment fosters engagement in community service and global health, and emphasizes diversity, equality, transparency and fairness, with an emphasis on wellness as a core foundation of professional satisfaction and fulfillment.

Combined Neuropsychiatry →
The mission of the Combined Neuropsychiatry Residency Program is to educate and train residents to be knowledgeable in the correlation of brain function and behavior, informed in the broad range of neurobiological, neurological, psychotherapeutic, social, cultural and rehabilitative perspectives and who are able to serve each department as a resource in the complementary field. We are dedicated to the training of psychiatrist/neurologists skilled at the management of high levels of neurological and psychiatric comorbidity, who serve their community by engaging in research and providing compassionate, person- and family-driven, trauma-informed, recovery-focused, respectful care and advocacy for those in need of neuropsychiatric and mental health services.

Family Medicine: Fitchburg →
The UMass HealthAlliance Fitchburg Family Medicine Residency Program is committed to the process of educating and training allopathic and osteopathic physicians to provide comprehensive, evidence-based, compassionate, patient-centered primary medical care to people in all stages of their lives, with a special emphasis on those who are medically underserved and experiencing a wide range of physical and behavioral health needs. Resident physicians are trained to provide this care in the context of the patients' backgrounds, families and communities, utilizing an interdisciplinary, team-based approach, and partnering whenever possible with our community resources. The program provides a supportive, scholarly and collegial environment that also encourages residents to acknowledge their own wellness and self-care needs.

The mission of the Integrated and Independent Interventional Radiology Residency Programs is to educate and train knowledgeable, skillful and innovative interventional radiologists. Residents receive excellent clinical training in diagnostic and interventional radiology and learn to provide compassionate patient care, while also participating in a variety of interventional radiology research opportunities that are available.

The mission of the Internal Medicine Residency Program is to educate and train our residents to be well- rounded internists. The program will prepare residents for careers as clinicians in primary care and hospital medicine, or for fellowships in medical subspecialties; and to be educators, researchers and administrators. The mission of the Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Residency Program is to train future surgeons to provide compassionate and comprehensive patient care. The educational goals, research and patient experience within the training program will provide an exemplary education for trainees. Ultimately, it will produce well-rounded, competent and caring surgeons who will contribute to the field of otolaryngology - head and neck surgery, and medicine, as a whole.

Pathology →
The mission of the Pathology Residency Program is to educate and train our residents to become competent, independently practicing pathologists and prepare them for careers in an academic institution or a large community hospital setting. The program gives residents a broad clinical experience in all aspects of anatomic and clinical pathology at a large academic tertiary medical center as well as at a large commercial laboratory. Our program aims to provide a unique learning opportunity for residents to be exposed to a large volume of pathology specimens, clinical research opportunities and private laboratory management experience.

The Urology Residency Program is a premier program that provides excellent comprehensive educational and clinical training in all aspects of urology. The program fosters faculty and trainee enthusiasm for discovery and service. The clinical expertise of the faculty instructs residents in the diagnosis and management of common and complex urologic disease. We provide opportunities for resident involvement alongside our faculty in laboratory, translational and clinical investigation, offering our trainees a broad exposure to basic and clinical research.

The mission of the Vascular Surgery Residency Program is to provide the necessary educational and clinical experiences to ensure that all graduates are prepared to be leaders in vascular care, in any type of practice setting.
