Visiting Resident Electives
Residents and fellows who are enrolled in ACGME-accredited programs under the sponsorship of other teaching hospitals or medical schools may be eligible to participate in elective training at UMass Memorial Medical Center under the supervision of UMass Chan Medical School faculty. Residents must meet requirements for participation in an elective experience including:
- Limited or Full Massachusetts Medical License (the resident must apply to the Board of Registration in Medicine for a license if he/she does not have one). The resident/fellow is responsible for the $100 cost of limited license or $600 for a full license. The limited license application is handled through the GME office.
- Documentation of Malpractice Insurance Coverage
- Documentation of UMass Chan Employee Health Clearance
- Documented Letter of Approval of Current Program Director
The visiting resident must first contact the program of interest to confirm that they have a spot available for that particular rotation month.
Once approved by the UMass Chan program, contact the GME office for all necessary paperwork and final approval.
