Inpatient Service
UMass Memorial HealthAlliance- Clinton Hospital is a medium-sized community hospital that hosts our family medicine residency as its only teaching service. Residents and students enjoy a dynamic team approach to care on the Family Medicine Inpatient Service. This includes adult medical admissions for the residency practice and several community family physicians, including our admissions to the critical care unit.
First-year residents quickly find this to be their home rotation assignment and develop strong inpatient care management skills under supervision of our faculty physicians and senior residents. Second- and third-year residents cover the service 24/7 and provide support to the Maternity Unit and the Rapid Response Teams. The residents are challenged with the breadth of service responsibilities, coverage of acute medical problems, and progressive responsibilities in teaching and learner supervision. Residents work with experienced family physicians who serve as dedicated academic hospitalists.
